Capturing the Calm

In one of my previous lifetimes  I was a Child Life Specialist.  I worked in a hospital with children.  It was my job to prepare kids of all kinds of medical procedures, and to provide distractions during medical procedures.  I loved my job, and it broke my heart to leave it when My Favoritest and I moved and got married.  One of my favorite tools in my bag of toys was a magic wand.  I am sure you have seen them.  Acrylic tube filled with glitter and sequins floating in water.  They have magical calming powers.... for most kids.  In our house the wand is anything but calming and quiet.  It is a marching band baton, a drum stick for Rock and Roll Elmo, a ball whacker, and anything else you can imagine.  I took a minute to try and remember to calming magic at the end of a hectic and crazy day:)
